Good Woods Round Logo white text and sky_edited.png

Scott grew up in Maine, splitting his time between Augusta and West Gardiner, working summers with his dad doing construction.  He graduated from Hebron academy and went on to receive his bachelors degree from the University of Vermont in Small Business Management.  After college, Scott moved to Arizona where he worked in the landscape and construction field for over 25 years.  He moved back to Maine in 2018 where he started a successful home inspection business.  Scott started Good Woods Forestry Mulching in 2024 once he realized this was a service he needed as well as friends and family.

ABOUT

Scott uses a small Kubota excavator and an FAE mulching head.  The mini excavator allows access to tight areas with minimal ground disturbance, and mulching can be done on uneven ground where a skid steer would have difficulty.  The boom can reach up slopes, over or into ditches, and back away from roads, driveways or fences.  The mulching head reduces small saplings, brush, brambles and invasives into 3-5" chips that naturally add to soil stabilization and, as the chips decay, return nutrients back into the forest floor.  A solid layer of mulch will also help reduce the amount of weed and brush regrowth.  Areas can be cleared in a fraction of the time it would take with traditional manpower, hand tools and a chipper.  The mulcher reduces material to a finer consistency than traditional brush hogging and can handle heavy woody material much easier.
